A musical film about Florence Nightingale is coming!

When a touring production of this musical was shut down by COVID-19, the producers - in the spirit of Florence Nightingale - didn’t give up! The pandemic made them completely rethink the production and they’re now envisioning it as a film.

WSNA congratulates the 2020 Nurses of Influence Banquet Awardees, including five WSNA members. The awards are given by the University of Washington School of Nursing to outstanding graduates and other exceptional individuals in the greater nursing community.





The push to recognize the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps as veterans

It was June 1944, the country was at war, and Marge Batey was graduating from St. Patrick’s Academy in Sidney, Nebraska. The boys from her high school class were heading into the military, off to the battlefields of World War II. Batey was heading to the Sacred Heart School of Nursing in Spokane.



In Memoriam: Barbara Frye, BSN, RN

It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of Barbara Frye today, Thursday, November 21. A consummate nurse and union leader, who believed that nurses must represent nurses, Barbara served on the staff of the Washington State Nurses Association for 20 years, guiding us through the union raids that devastated our association…

Margarita López Prentice, RN 1931 - 2019

Margarita López Prentice, former state legislator, longtime WSNA member and inductee in the Washington State Nurses Hall of Fame, passed away quietly in her sleep of natural causes at her home in Bryn Mawr-Skyway, Washington on April 2, 2019. She was 88 years old.







In memoriam: Betty Jule Harrington

Active in professional nursing activities and associations throughout her career, Betty served on the Washington State Board of Nursing, the Board of Directors of the Washington State Nurses Association, and the Inland Empire Nurses Association. In 1996, Betty was inducted into the Washington State Nurses Hall of Fame.
